INSTAGRAM IS 'NO LONGER A PHOTO-SHARING APP

The Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, announces that Instagram is “no longer a photo-sharing app or a square photo-sharing app”. He shares plans to grow the app into more areas than just photo-sharing apps, such as video and shopping.

According to Mosseri, the main reason for declaring “We’re no longer a photo-sharing app or a square photo-sharing app,” is that users come to Instagram “to be entertained,” and it’s not the only app that gives that in what is a crowded marketplace.

Mosseri stated in a video published to social media, Instagram is currently growing out new experiences in four key areas-

  1. The company’s first priority is creators and promoting them to get a living with new monetization features. Mosseri acknowledges there’s been a variation in power from businesses to individuals across enterprises, and he wants to move Instagram in that direction.
  2. The second priority is video, which is regarding online growth on all major platforms in wide results. Mosseri said, “Instagram needs to lean into video more, and later explains how he plans to do that.”
  3. A third area Instagram plans to expand on is shopping. The pandemic accelerated the turn of business from offline to online, moving the enterprise ahead by a number of years. Instagram is trying to gain on that trend.
  4. The fourth area Instagram plans to grow out its messaging, which Mosseri says has become the prime way people connect with their close friends on the app. Over the past 5 years, the conversation has turned away from feed posts and stories and moved toward DMs.

Mosseri assigns more information about how Instagram plans to expand its video tweeted on twitter and get new content in front of more users.

Instagram will also be practice with how video is used as a content format. Mosseri briefly explains-

“We’re also going to be experimenting with how do we embrace video more broadly — full screen, immersive, entertaining, mobile-first video. And so, you’ll see us do a number of things, or experiment with a number of things in this space over the coming months.”

Instagram’s analysis observes that mostly users use the apps just to be entertained. Every time most of the users are open their eyes to one of the best features of Instagram that is on Reels. To keep its users entertained Instagram will add more features into the video. Mosseri recognizes there’s serious competition from TikTok and YouTube, which means there’s lots of activity ahead for Instagram to become on the same level.

The company is covering this challenge by working on a number of innovations that will turn out in the near future. One of those variances is a new way of sharing content and advancing users to a wider variety of creators.
